This book is an elegant gift for lovers of poetry. The translator lives in Israel since 1988. She studied linguistics and classical studies at the Hebrew University (Jerusalem). The book contains translations from Hebrew, Yiddish, Aramaic, Latin, English, Ukrainian, French and other languages; the original poems were written by H.N. Bialik, U.Z. Greenberg, Rachel Bluwstein, Zerachiah ha-Levi of Girona, Yosef Kerler, Yehezkel Dobrushin, Moishe Teif, as well as Byron, Heine, Verlaine, “Lesya the Ukrainian”, Akaki Tsereteli and many others.
The book was published in Jerusalem in 2017. It is dedicated to the memory of Mikhail Gasparov, an outstanding philologist and translator, and it contains, in addition to the translations, some other texts, including two letters by Gasparov himself. The book is illustrated by the remarkable Jerusalem artist Zely Smekhov.
